Hello friends. Happy days are here again! The weather has been spectacular and so has the fishing. The warm nights and sun filled days have warmed the water right up, and the fish are making a move shallow. We have limited nearly every day on crappie and have started picking up some big gills and redear as well. Today, 23rd, I had a 5 year old and his grandfather who had 37 nice crappie. The size of the fish this year is fantastic. Surprisingly, we had several black crappie in the mix. They each boated several "slabs" and the weather was just fantastic, a guides dream!

The Largemouth bite is excellent! There are bedders on both lakes, and still some pre-spawners on both lakes. As we continue thru this full moon phase I expect even more to make their way to the beds. We are still catching some big pre-spawners. Soft plastics and jigs for the shallow fish, and c-rigs and DT 10s for the pre-spawners. My guess is that some post spawn fish will start being caught in the next few days.

The crappie have really come around since our last report. They are in the backs of creeks and some are on the banks. We are still casting but have talked to several folks who have caught good fish on minnows under bobbers. Normally stake beds work best for us as a post spawn structure. Seems the fish want a vertical piece of structure to hang on coming off the beds, BUT, we have picked up several fish off stake beds early this year. Your favorite stake bed may be worth a look as you go shallow.

As we have said, the bluegill we are catching are simply huge. We are picking them up in staging brush as they will start making beds soon. We haven't had a great day with a redear bite, but we have caught redear as we crappie fish nearly every trip.

The whites and yellows are moving from the creek backs  out to the main river. You'll pick up one or two as you cast for crappie.

Get out there and have some fun, and make sure you take a young en' with you. Watching them catch fish is worth all the trouble. If we can help, give us a call. Take care.
